The biggest cost variable in The Woodlands isn’t the village name — it’s the age and original spec of the house. That maps loosely to villages because they were built in waves:
Grogan’s Mill and Panther Creek
The original villages, with much of the housing stock dating to the 1970s and 80s. These kitchens are often closed off from the living space, so projects here frequently involve opening walls, rerouting electrical, and updating plumbing along the way. That structural work is exactly what pushes a project from the mid-range band toward $45,000-plus — but it’s also where remodeling transforms the home the most.
Cochran’s Crossing, Alden Bridge and Indian Springs
Largely 1990s-era homes. Layouts are more open than the older villages, so many projects here are full cosmetic-and-cabinet remodels in the existing footprint — the heart of the $25,000-$45,000 mid-range.
Sterling Ridge and Carlton Woods
2000s-era construction, with Carlton Woods at the luxury end. Sterling Ridge kitchens often need finish-level updates rather than layout surgery. In Carlton Woods, expectations (and home values) put most projects firmly in the high-end to luxury custom bands with custom cabinetry and professional-grade appliances.
Creekside Park
The newest village. Most Creekside kitchens don’t need gutting — we see more countertop, backsplash, lighting and cabinet upgrade projects here, which often land in the basic refresh range of $10,000-$20,000.
Where the Money Actually Goes
From our cost guide, a typical budget breaks down like this:
- Cabinets: 30-40% of budget. Stock cabinets run $60-200 per linear foot, semi-custom $150-650, and custom $500-1,500. Cabinet refacing ($4,500-$10,000 total) or repainting ($2,500-$7,000) can cut this line dramatically.
- Countertops: 10-20%. Granite runs $50-150 per square foot installed; quartz $60-175.
- Appliances: 15-20%. Mid-range packages run $5,000-$12,000; high-end $12,000-$25,000.
- Labor: 20-35%. Demolition, electrical, plumbing, installation and painting.
